Gunungkidul (Feb 1) - The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Menristekdikti) Mohamad Nasir inaugurated the prorotype of a water treatment system using a solar power pump in Temuireng Village, Gunungkidul Regency.

Accompanied by the Principal Secretary of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), Soni Solistia Wirawan and the Rector of UPN (Universitas Pembangunan Nasional) Veteran Yogyakarta, Sari Bahagiarti, Minister of Research and Technology inaugurated and symbolically handed the prototype system to Bupati Gunungkidul, Badingah.

Following the request of the Governor of DIY to the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the prototype of this system is expected to meet the water needs in Gunungkidul Regency, especially the people of Temuireng Village who have been using rain water and buying water in the dry season with a price range of Rp. 150 thousand per 5 cubic meters.

Menristek Kunjungi BTPGunungkidul (Feb 1)-Indonesia has the potential of natural resources that can be used for NRE (New and Renewable Energy). The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Menristekdikti) Mohamad Nasir urged the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) to develop renewable energy.

“Solar cells, diesel and hybrid energy are new and renewable energy that are very prospective,” said Minister Nasir while visiting Baron Technopark, Gunung Kidul.

Baron Technopark is designed as a training center as well as a place for promoting the use of renewable energy technology.

Now, Baron Technopark is ready to become a training and R & D centers of New and Renewable Energy technology. It is equipped with solar, wind, fuelcell, and biodiesel installations, and two units of desalination system from seawater to freshwater with capacity of 10 cubic meters / unit / day.

The utilization of solar energy into the electrical system is implemented by National Laboratory for Energy Conversion Technology (Balai Besar Teknologi Konversi Energi / B2TKE-BPPT) by installing a 10 kW smart grid system on the roof of "Energy Cluster", PUSPIPTEK Area - Serpong. 

Hamzah Hilal (Head of Smart Grid Technology Innovation Program) said (Jan 21) that, this 10 kW smart grid at bld 625 (energy cluster - PUSPIPTEK Area - Serpong) uses SEMS (Smart Energy Management System) application.

"This (the adoption of the smart grid system) refers to the RPJMN (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional - National Medium Term Development Plan), B2TKE has to implement the application of new and renewable energy which is the basis for the implementation of this activity", he added.
